- Abstract
- The French expedition to Banten (West Java) between 1616 and 1618 is very poorly documented: two letters written by members of the crews allow us to know the outward journey and the reception reserved for the ships upon their arrival. A number of English and Dutch archival documents also evoke this journey. This article focuses on an unpublished manuscript written by the officer of the Compagnie des Moluques. The content of this account partially confirms the information known until then and provides additional information on the voyage, its itinerary, and its adventures. The presentation of this recently unearthed source, then its cross-study with the other documents available to researchers, are completed by the full transcription of this manuscript.
- Ekspedisi Prancis ke Banten (Jawa Barat) antara tahun 1616 dan 1618 memiliki dokumentasi yang sangat minim: dua pucuk surat yang ditulis oleh anggota awak kapal memberikan gambaran mengenai perjalanan menuju lokasi tujuan serta sambutan yang diterima kapal-kapal tersebut saat tiba. Sejumlah dokumen arsip Inggris dan Belanda juga menyinggung perjalanan ini. Artikel ini berfokus pada sebuah naskah yang belum pernah dipublikasikan, yang ditulis oleh seorang perwira dari *Compagnie des Moluques*. Isi catatan tersebut sebagian mengonfirmasi informasi yang telah diketahui sebelumnya sekaligus menyajikan informasi tambahan mengenai pelayaran, rute perjalanan, dan berbagai peristiwa yang dialami.
