About

The Karangantu Junction is a curated digital catalog dedicated to collecting, indexing, and facilitating access to archives, scholarly works, and historical objects related to Banten that are scattered across libraries, museums, and repositories worldwide.

Although much of this heritage is accessible online, these vital sources remain fragmented, lacking a centralized gathering point for researchers. This catalog aggregates bibliographic metadata from various institutions to bridge that gap, while strictly upholding academic ethics and copyright protections.

Why "Karangantu"?

The name "Karangantu" is used to honor its history. In the 15th century, Karangantu stood out as one of the busiest ports and a vibrant hub of cosmopolitan life. Inspired by this legacy, this catalog aims to serve as a central meeting point (junction) for both national and international communities wishing to study Banten. At present, there is still significant interest in Banten Studies, and this catalog aims to facilitate the retrieval of information related to the subject.
